Members of the employee community at Freedom Prep share the school’s longstanding commitment to excellence – a commitment that has made Freedom Prep one of the best schools in the state.  The faculty at FPA is comprised of talented and energetic teachers who are devoted to addressing the particular needs of all students.

Our employee community includes more than 80 teachers, administrators and support staff.  Freedom Prep offers a unique and inclusive work environment.  Our goal is to create and sustain a community where all are appreciated and respected for their individual and collective contributions.

At Freedom Preparatory Academy, we look for mission-aligned, smart, problem-solving, self-reflective and passionate teachers who want to close the achievement gap by preparing each of our students for success in college and life. We seek teachers who want to be part of a dynamic, hard-working team at the best charter schools in Memphis.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a mastery of subject knowledge, a proven ability to manage a classroom and an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to teaching and school reform. Ideally, candidates will have at least two years of teaching experience in an urban school.

We are always seeking strong candidates that align with our school’s mission. If you believe you are an ideal candidate and are interested in applying for one of our available positions, please visit our Employment Community website.

Freedom Prep Academy Plan for Hiring ESL (English as a Second Language) Teachers for ELLs (English Language Learners)

Freedom Preparatory Academy requires all teachers of any language instruction program for English Language Learners (ELLs) to be fluent and competent in the four domains of language assessed by the English Language Proficiency Assessment: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

A teacher’s fluency in all areas, reading, writing, speaking and listening will be documented and evaluated during the pre-interview / interview process.  Our interview process includes a sample lesson that is developed from the material relevant to the position for which the candidate is being interviewed and will capture three of the four areas (reading, speaking and listening). Our writing fluency is measured during our pre-interview process where the candidates are asked to complete written responses to essay questions.
